Junior is incapable of going out without charming everyone he comes into contact with. He can be totally grumpy but the minute someone notices him he's all smiles.
Yesterday was no exception as he and ES were having father-son time while I was partaking in brunch at the Lido with my girlfriends. They were at the annual Battle of Atlantic ceremonies at the HMCS Tecumseh. As it happened there was a Calgary Herald reporter and because Junior was working his usual magic he and his father managed to make it into the Herald.

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since I got happy amnio results. Right about this time last year I got the thrill of baby's first kick. That kicking isn't so thrilling anymore as it's usually accompanied by screaming. Still, it's all mostly good as Simon changes and grows.

Every single bottle of Johnson's and Johnson's "product" I have, be it lotion or soap or shampoo, assures me that nothing I do with the product will harm my delicate little newborn...
...and then proceeds to give me the handy Safety Tip to keep the product out of reach of children.
We've hit the six week mark with wee Simon and in spite of not being prepared for the work a newborn is all three of us seem to be mostly intact.
I was prepared for these weeks to be much worse than they have been. Both Evil Scientist and I have managed to get out with and without baby as well as together as a family. We've been to curling, to the observatory, out to dinner, over to the Lido and even Malzac. We survived the trip to Red Deer for Thanksgiving (we had so much stuff that there was no room for Simon's bassinet so I made a bed for him in Evil Scientist's suitcase. Poor little welfare baby!).
For those of you keen observers who noticed the countdown stopped you are correct in the assumption that I went into labour on my own.
It started on Wednesday at 0930 hrs. I was able to comfortably labour at home until around 2200 hrs that night at which point we headed for the hospital. In typical Calgary fashion we were somewhat delayed by traffic.
