It's comforting to know, that without fail, I will eventually turn everything I touch to shit...
... usually due to my own stupidity and self-destructive ability to do the most fucked-up shit possible.

This is a great song that was recently introduced to me by a friend and then someone else I know posted the video.
I think that a lot of people find themselves in this position. It's hard to leave and a lot of people just can't. Staying somewhere you know that you shouldn't be is what makes a person painfully dead inside.

The above words were uttered 20 years ago by Nichol Kadler as we made our way south to Lethbridge from our home town of Red Deer. We were heading off to our first year of undergrad studies.
I had only had my license for a few weeks so was not exactly confident driving my 1982 Datsun pick-up truck loaded with all my worldly possessions. Hence, I occasionally swerved when not paying as much attention as I should have.

So I was watching Sea Patrol You Tube videos the other day and I found this great song used in a montage of clips featuring my two favourite characters. I never keep up with the latest music so forgive me for not knowing who this group was before I saw the video and did a little websearch on Daughtry (http://www.daughtryofficial.com/ca). Here's the fan video it was used in:

I like video games. My dad also has a weakness for them and was known to come home with new games and gaming systems when I was kid. We had an original pong machine and I remember spending hours playing adventure games on the TRS-80 (You are in a tomb, it's dark... Light torch... There's a fearsome mummy coming right at you! Game Over). I was allowed to play Leisure Suit Larry until I got farther than my dad assumed that I could. After that, I was restricted to Kings Quest and Space Quest. I also had a lot of male friends, even as a tween, so I played my share of the classics like Space Invaders and Asteroids.
I recently saw this video and thought that it was a well-done piece:

I've been watching Arrested Development the last week or so and I couldn't help but think of my youth of watching Little House on the Prairie. For those of you who don't know or remember, Jason Bateman played young James Cooper, an orphaned boy who watches his parents die in a horrific waggon accident.
“No, no, no!” You're saying. “Little House on the Prairie was a gentle, lovely family show. Stuff like that never happened.” Really? Go to this link and start the video at the 3-minute mark:

I'd forgotten how pretty the song "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman is. I don't think I've listened to it in more than 15 years.
