Addiction

Yes, there is also some thought given to addiction and the creative mind. An article I read a number of years ago points out that recording artists do their best work when they are using heavily and/or experiencing some down turn in their life.
Depression also has a link to addiction. A very active mind is one that will tend to over-think everything.
As I've said, the key is being addicted to something that is, let's say, less detrimental to one's physical and mental health. I say less detrimental as although I've enjoyed skiing I can see that by next winter my ego will be writting cheques my body can't cash.
