I have no experience with surgery or being really sick. Because of this I have really unrealistic expectations when it comes to recovering. I'm almost a month in to this thing and I can't believe that I'm not fully recovered. My back is still somewhat numb (something I'm told could last up to a year or more) and I'm sick of carrying around this stupid bag full of meds. I finished my pain meds last week which has caused some mild withdrawal symptoms including being too restless to sleep. Worse of all, I'm exhausted... All. The. Time. Exhausted and can't sleep is an awful combination.
Today I spent about 30 minutes tidying the kitchen table. It wiped me out for the rest of the day. It's frustrating. I just want to be better but as everyone keeps reminding me, pushing myself to recover is actually not going to make me recover faster.
Sigh.
