“Oh the prairie lights are burning bright
The Chinook wind is a-moving in
No one I've met could e'er forget
The Rocky Mountain sunset”
Alberta Bound
G. Lightfoot
www.lightfoot.ca The above are some of the reasons that it's great to live in Alberta. The political tone is disgusting but I take comfort in the fact that there are still groups willing to try and make changes that will lead to a more enlightened, educated and healthy province.
Gordon Lightfoot's influence on Canadian music can not go unacknowledged. Just about every one of my favourite Canadian groups has mentioned how studying Lightfoot has helped them form their art. It was appropriate that he was the one to induct Blue Rodeo onto Canada's Walk of Fame in 2009.
