Taken on my first HP digital camera in August of 2004. This is the cockpit of the Commemorative Air Force's B-17, Sentimental Journey. It was in Calgary for a week before heading out to Lethbridge for the air show. The Commemorative Air Force is an organisation in the US that restores and operates vintage air craft. Check out their site at www.commemorativeairforce.org.
I remember the day it came into town. I was walking out of a shop and I saw an a/c on the approach for 34. It's tail was distinctive but all I could think was “surely that isn't what I think it is?” Later that week we met with friends for dinner who mentioned they'd toured a Flying Fortress at YYC and I realised that I was absolutely correct in my identification of the thing a few days earlier (a rare occurrence as Evil Scientist will gleefully point out).
