I probably could have got back into my routine today but we needed to make a trip to Red Deer:

If I would have planned better, I could have at least got a run in but I figured that I might as well make this week a total write-off. I made cornbread in the morning for my Mom and put together a fruit and cheese tray. Again, because I've been making such an effort in the kitchen I only had to pick up a few things to get everything together. In Red Deer, I learned from both my Grandmother's that brown eggs used to cost less because they couldn't be checked for baby chickens back in the day. I also learned that the colour of an egg is determined by the breed of the chicken. It says a lot about how removed I am from the food that I eat.
It was nice to show up at a family shindig and actually have something more than a bottle of wine. I worried when I was pregnant that I was never going to have decent meals for my kid because I wasn't a cook so I'm glad that cooking is something I've gotten in to. One less thing to feel guilty about in my journey as a parent.
