Duxford Girl

My torchbearer uniform arrived today and I thankfully estimated my size at this point correctly. I had to tell the torch committee my size sometime in the summer when I was about nine months pregnant so I was a bit worried but I made the right choice. I only plan to wear it for my run and then save it. Maybe in 22 years the Winter Olympics will return to Canada and I can be like the '88 torchbearers who have turned out in their tracksuits. The one coloured sleeve has a lot more detail than it appears to have in most pictures. There are maple leafs, waves and topical map graphics in each of the colours. There are also reflective Olympic rings on the back of the jacket and Vancouver 2010 logo down one of the legs. The mits have one difference from the ones that you can buy at The Bay and Zellers and that is that the white maple leaf is made of nubbed rubber for ease of carrying the torch. All in all I was very excited to try on my kit today (photos to follow).

I will be running on January 17th, 2010 at approximately 1622 hrs from the Lethbridge CPR High Level Bridge to 2nd Avenue on Scenic Drive. My official number is OTR080-097 which will be posted on the route. Hopefully the wind won't be too strong but that's likely asking too much for Lethbridge. The University of Lethbridge's motto is Fiat Lux or Let There Be Light. When I was in school there, I always thought Let There Be Wind would be more appropriate.
