Breathing Slowly into the Paper Bag

Yesterday was my baby shower. It was lovely and I really thank my family and friends for making it so special. I loved everything about it and can't wait to use all the wonderful things that I was given. Today, Evil Scientist and I took another step toward parenthood. We bought our stroller/infant seat combo. I managed to get one that isn't beige and covered in cute, licensed, cartoon animals or patterns. Mine is grey and black with safety orange accents. Now that's transportation for a future astronaut. Goodness knows the release handles all look as though my wee son will be able to punch should there ever be a problem. It has two cup-holders (one for my Starbucks, the other for my vodka).
Another moment of connection as I realized that the bundle of pointy hands and feet, elbows and knees that is constantly changing in the middle of me is very soon going to come out and be sitting in the contraption now making its home in my living room. I can't wait, actually. Given the amount of moving, I'm guessing that Junior is getting impatient to be on the outside himself.
On a side note, don't try and put cats into a Snugli. They will not be impressed:
