Chantelle\'s Ramblings We crossed over to Vancouver Island today as part of our annual spring vacation. In grey, cloudy, rainy weather we took the Tsawwassen Route. It's a prettier passage and there was much activity today. We saw any number of ferries crossing to various points as well as the newly arrived Northern Expedition (http://www.bchwys.ca/BCF/New_Fy_NE/NE_1B.htm) from Germany engaging in her sea trials. Also out today was an Orca (http://www.casr.ca/101-navy-aux-pct-orca.htm) and the patrol frigate, HMCS Regina (http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/regina/).

Once in Victoria, we checked into the hotel. Because it's the low season we were able to reserve at one of the luxury hotels without spending a fortune. It's one of the benefits of travelling at unpopular times of the year. The desk staff attempted to convince us to upgrade to a harbour-view room for the bargain price of $40 a night. We declined, after-all, to us it's just a place to sleep. I've included pictures of our “discount” view in the album section of my blog.

Hopefully, the weather will get a bit warmer in the days that we're here. Still, better than the two feet of snow that's at home.
