So, except for a few days around the May Long when it was nice enough to roast weenies and ride my bike to work, this has been a God-awful spring for weather. I'm sure I'm not alone in being sick of the rain. n April, I took the month off flying to ski and to re-evaluate. After my school's announcement to move to High River, I finally decided to switch to a different flight school because I have a hard enough time fitting in flights with my schedule without the added problem of a 45 minute drive.

There were other considerations too. As the CFI at the new flight school put it “I think there's something wrong in your log book, you have 100 hours and only 2 of them are solo.”

Yeah, no kidding, welcome to my world.

I knew that things were not progressing as they should when I returned to flight school after the break I took for RTC class. Granted, if I could do things over I would not have gone back to flying until after I had completed all my training as an RTC. I also would have requested that my instructor start at the beginning with mini-lessons to get me back up to speed. I simply haven't flown long enough or regularly enough to be able to pick up where I left off.

My new flight school has assessed that I wasn't given enough solo time in between lessons to gain enough confidence to actually move on to the next lesson. I also believe that my training will progress much better in a 172.

In the end, I should have switched flight schools last year when I knew that I was getting frustrated. By the time I switched this year, I was seriously thinking of throwing in the towel but the huge cost of calling it quits after having spent so much money was just too daunting.

As it stands now, I plan to get my PPL no later than September. This gives me a chance to build some hours as licensed PIC before I'm grounded for 12 weeks around December (more on that later). Now if only the damn weather would clear up!
