Chantelle Rants I wonder if how well we keep promises to ourselves is indicative of how well we keep promises to everyone else.

On that note, conversation has once again drifted into the territory of New Year’s Resolutions. Last year, I put it to a vote. In case anyone is interested, the cats are still lazy, little free-loaders who can’t vacuum. This year, I have quite the list. I have certain long-term goals in mind that I don’t count as resolutions as they are projects that I’ve been working on for some time. My resolutions (for the most part) are things that will complement these bigger goals and hopefully help the process along.

Start eBay Store
Worst case scenario…I make enough money to support my eBay habit. Best case scenario…it’s actually successful and I can be one of those sickening people who “works from home”. It would be nice to have a job that I don’t hate.

Fill iPod
I insisted that my first iPod was 20 GB. I figured go hard or go home. I never did fill that thing before it finally gave out and I replaced it with my 80 GB video iPod. As it stands now, I have most of my CD collection, a couple of movies, Series 4 of Black Adder and the entirety of BBC’s The Office and I have only reached 8 GB. This is the year that I fill that thing to capacity.

Dress More Like Bettie Page
There seems to be a cult around of people who dress like Bettie Page/1940s Pin-Up Girls/Nose Art with a modern, Goth twist. I’ve decided to join this cult. Since the shops that specialize in this type of clothing tend to be pricey, I’ve attached health and fitness goals to the when I can treat myself to say…5 inch pumps with skulls and roses on them.

Cook One Meal a Week (actually cook, not just reheat in the microwave)
Yes, this is the year I’m going to make cooking something that I like to do. It’s not that I can’t cook, I just hate doing it. I’m going to make an attempt on days off to make a nice meal whereby I go to specialty stores and get the best ingredients and make something really fantastic, healthy and well-thought out.

So far, that’s how my year is shaping up. As it stands now, I’ve started my business plan for the eBay shop, have been downloading like mad, set goals for my first splurge at Blame Betty on 17th and am reading a cookbook and planning the first big meal.

Maybe, just maybe…2008 won’t suck.
