Today was my first day back at the newly renovated Lido and I was understandabley nervous. A recent comment on this form was helpful in pointing out that the Lido has recently bought the bulding they're in and it only makes sense to upgrade a bit. Still, I don't adapt well to change. Jessica had already arrived at the Lido and had had a few moments to take in all that had changed. Noteably;
the floor is now a dark laminate
the walls are a sandy yellow shade with an accent wall of rust (very Starbucks)
the broken neon sign is gone
the huge trophies are gone
the menus are new to reflect the increase in price
breakfast is now 0.50 cents more
the TV has its own cubby
We'll live, I suppose and I'm sure, eventually it will seem as though it's always been that way but I'm glad that we have several pictures kicking around of the old Lido.

What's happening to our shared cultural history? Long live the Lido, even if the broken neon "Dining Room" sign is gone.
