V for Very Good... I've gotten bad about going to see films. I used to go at least twice a week and now it seems to take a grand effort from friends to convince me to go. I think it all happened when I moved to Calgary nearly eight years ago. In Lethbridge I could still see a flick at the cheap theatre for $2 in the afternoon and (I think) $4 at night. Heck, even the regular theatres at the time were still only charging $7. Then I moved and discovered that in the big city, movies ain't cheap.
At any rate. I had resolved this year to just go and see movies that a friend of mine suggests whether I want to go or not. So, this past Saturday, I accepted an invitation to go see V for Vendetta.
I was pleasantly surprised. I generally consider movies based on comic books (graphic novels, whatever) to at best, be high-quality brain candy. Not so with V for Vendetta. It was smart and well-written.
If you see it, drop me a note to let me know what you think. There's lot's about this movie to discuss but I don't want to give anything away.
