Duxford Girl

Another day on the road and although still hot, it was much less muggy the further east we got. On the advice of Candice, we stopped in Thunder Bay for a late lunch at the Hoito. This unique little cafe was originally set up to help Finnish workers get an inexpensive meal in the early part of the 20th century and has remained a good, inexpensive place to eat.

The pancakes were amazing and the burger Evil Scientist had was an actual formed patty rather than a pre-made one. It was definitely worth the stop. Thanks Candice!

After passed “The Centre of Canada” we were well on our way to our trek across Northern Ontario. The weather was still hot but got much less muggy as we headed away from Winnipeg.

When we rolled into town, we stayed at the KOA just west of the city. Although close to the highway, the campground was pretty and comfortable.

A trip to The Forks was unfortunately cut short because of the whims of a certain small boy. We had perogies for lunch but my brilliant plan to shop the market for a few days food was not to be. Instead we headed back to the campground but on the way I took some photos from the window of the car.

Another gorgeous day of weather as we headed east across the country. Less driving today and Simon, in spite of having very little sleep the last two days, was very good playing with his Ninky-Nonk most of the drive. However, on our way back to the camp-site after our unsuccesful grocery shopping trip to Winnipeg, he fell asleep and didn't wake up even when I took him out of his seat.

It seems as though I was just here a year ago...

Although it was a long day of driving, there is no complaining about how great the weather was today. My only regret is that I didn't start the morning with coffee so I spent the day rather narcoleptic in the heat. When I wasn't falling asleep, I took some pictures with my phone.

Honestly, if I didn't have a house-sitter coming over to the house, I would have have just left things as they were around this place. However, six hours later, my house is somewhat better than it's been all spring.

Most of the things that I wanted to do around the house before leaving is done but I'm not going to finish everything. Sigh. My anal-retentavness knows no bounds.

I've not had the most productive of days as I've had a major allergy flare-up. Now I'm just sleepy from too many antihistamines. I suppose, in the end, it doesn't really matter or not, whether my living room is clean while I'm gone.
