Someone Like You - Adele 21

Beautiful song on a beautiful album. When Adele gets her heart broken, she keeps notes in a “drunk diary” and turns it into amazing music. I also keep a journal, only my drunk scribblings look like something penned by a person with a brain injury. Afterward, the best I can do is write a pathetic blog entry like this one. “I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you.”

It's extremely hard to emotionally give everything you have to someone only to find out that it wasn't nearly enough for them.

“Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light.”

There is a special kind of misery associated with looking into the eyes of the person you love and seeing them avert their gaze because they are unable to look straight at you.

“You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days”

The memories of a particular time have a way of running around the brain forever.

“I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.”

People always say that they want closure but what they're really looking for is a second chance.

“Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?”

Sometimes regret would be easier than having no regrets at all.

“Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
Don't forget me, I beg”

It flat-out sucks to be forgotten.

“I remember you said,
'Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead.'"

Another way of saying, “it is what it is.” Love doesn't always conquer all and some things will never be okay.
