As I denied myself a delicious eggnog latte at Starbucks this morning and instead opted for my usual skinny latte (another Xmas without my fave holiday treat as punishment for not having ALL the baby weight off) I had to ask myself if November 3rd was not a bit early to start depriving myself of the caloric joys of the season. I'm torn because I really am a Christmas junky. Aside from that, I'm always happy to see October be on its way and the early Xmas kick-off is a welcome mood booster.

The reality is that the sellers want us consuming as much as possible for as long as possible but there are other good reasons to drag this out. Most religions from the Northern hemisphere have some kind of festival during this time of year to simply get some light into an otherwise dark time.

For me, I hold off on the festivities until after November 11th. It's too important a day to be forgotten behind a glut of tinsel and glitter.

After that, though...well, it will take a lot of effort to hold off on those tasty holiday coffee drinks. Although, one thing that was kicked off today was Lite 96's Toy Mountain Campaign. They were broadcasting from Banker's Hall this morning and selling teddy bears to raise money to buy toys for less fortunate kids. This can't be started too early. The more toys the better. It was good to see that there was already a good accumulation of toys at 0545 this morning when I was over there.
