Another day on the bike:

Because I find it impossible to work on things like cadence and shifting while trying to ride in the streets, I loaded my bike into the KIA and headed for the bike paths along Memorial Drive. I did a 10 km ride to get a baseline on what my time is right now. It took me about 30 minutes but I certainly wasn't pushing it. Now I have an idea of what to improve on in the next several weeks. Here are last years results for the tri I will be participating in:

Biking is definitely going to be the place where I can make up some time if my swimming goes horribly wrong. Additionally, something I realized on Saturday was that riding my bike gives me such a jolt of adrenaline that it may carry me through my run.

As you may have noticed, I've avoided the topic of food in the last couple of posts. It's been a bad weekend for eating healthy. I haven't gone over my allotted calories but I have eaten the worst possible foods. I don't know why, either. Something must be bothering me, although I'm not sure what. At any rate, a new week tomorrow and time to get back on track. I think that I'd better plan some salads and lean meat meals for the week to make up for such a fatty weekend.
