I knew that the pregnancy weight would probably take as long to get off as it did to put on but that doesn't make me feel any better about the situation. I'm two months post-pardum now and I've lost just over 30 lbs. That should make me happy but instead all I can think about is what I weighed this time last year and how thrilled I was with that.

At any rate, not to be daunted by the task ahead of me, two weeks ago I abandoned my child (read: dropped him off in Red Deer with his doting grandparents) and headed for the hills. Conditions are great this year. At Lake Louise the Larch and Ptarmigan are already open. Last year that didn't happen until mid-December. I had two great days of skiing. This is my third season of regularly skiing and it shows. I'm familiar with the runs and with my equipment. I don't feel unsure on my feet when I get off the lifts. It was a great two days and I had my usual fantasies about quitting my job and becoming a lift operator. Those are usually pretty short-lived but fun none-the-less.

In other getting-my-body-back news. I finally got fitted for a new pair of running shoes several weeks ago. My feet, already quite wide, have spread massively (just like my bottom). I ended up with a width of E. They're extremely comfortable though, which is great because I'm up to running five times a week. Running is a weird thing. I used to hate it. Then when I started running, I hated it until I was out actually running. Now, I look forward to it. I can honestly say that I like it. Right now, I like seeing the xmas lights going up around the neighbourhood. I feel like going past certain houses on my run is my reward for getting out each night.
