I'm always getting asked the above question and it has finally occurred to me to post the answer on my blog that bears the name of my alter ego. It all started several months ago when I was heading out to the beach with a couple of friends. I'd stopped at the closest Salvation Army Thrift shop to pick up a handful of romance novels. I usually read a lot of history but there is something unseemly about lying in the sun on the beach mentally debating which contributed more to the victory of WWII, Fighter Command or Bomber Command. Hence, I like my trashy 3 for a $1 romances for the beach.

One of these books was written by someone with the very obvious pseudonym of Victoria London. This spurred a conversation where we debated various unlikely names for ourselves (did I mention that the beach was 12 hours away and we had a lot of time to fill?).

Following the formula used by the above author (very British 1st name + British city or district) we came up with Emma Brixton, Mary-Anne Chelsea and Margaret Duxford. The names all had to do with where the other two had lived in Britain at some point in their lives. Because I have always been trapped in Alberta and will likely never leave my fake last name was derived from Duxford where the Imperial War Museum's Air Collection is located.

A few weeks later, Evil Scientist put a blog together for me and I decided to use my fake, beach name as a handle. I shortened it to Mag to make it less cumbersome. Evil Scientist choose duxfordgirl as my domain name and made the logo using a photo of Duxford's tower.

Now you know.
