Well, I'm back from Mexico and I drank things I've never drunk before (gin and tonic), ate things I've never eaten before (conch, who knew?) and wore things that I will probably never wear again (very small bikini). I'm sporting the best tan in my life with the exception of a patch on my left shoulder which is a delightful little 2nd degree radiation burn. I also have freckles on my nose, something else I've never had before.

The Caribbean is actually as beautiful as it looks in movies and Corona ads. I went kayaking one day and could see right to the bottom of the sea in water that was not particularly shallow. Much to my relief, there was no sign of sharks anywhere near the beach at our resort.

I worked my way through the drinks menu and have treated myself to every fruity, alcoholic concoction ever invented. I maintain that the reason drinks like this are popular in warm places is that you need something incredibly sweet to get the salt out of your mouth after playing in the ocean all day.

I'll probably go back some day but I'll likely not do all-inclusive, (it's really more of a couples world and I always vacation alone). I'll get a cheap hotel and spend the time getting my scuba ratings. Also, I'll hopefully have my wings by then and I fully intend to fly over the sea because I'm sure the view would be great but I'd rather do it as PIC rather than a passenger.

This was the view from our room over-looking the resort we stayed at.

Me and Mom; note my ridiculous D & G knock off sunglasses.

Yeah, I could probably even find one in Antartica. Five countries and counting...

Playa Del Carmen; I think I'll stay at the hotel to the left next time. There's a dive shop right downstairs.

Cleverly disguised cell phone tower.
